Just Resting …

From time to time it is important to simply rest, relax and recuperate. For the next three days, I will be taking some time off from everything to seek the next step for my life and my writing (ministry). While I am away, I will be thinking of all of you and how I can give more through service. I will return soon…and I will be looking forward to all of your comments and feedback.

Love Is Power

“If you have enough love, you’ll be the happiest and most powerful person in the world.” Dr. Emmet Fox

Create The Urge

Cravings drive your mind to action. If you want a chocolate cup cake filled with sweet vanilla icing — you are going to get it. You don’t have the money for it. Yet, the urge will tell you to break open the piggy bank, because it’s worth it. You will imagine how the rich chocolate mixed with the sweet icing is going to taste as it slides down your throat. The urge pushed your mind to manifest your thoughts, which brought them into reality.

How powerful would it be for you to create an urge that will bring you out of depression, hopelessness and sorrow. Today, create an urge to do what you believe is impossible. Lose weight. Fire your boss. Read a hard book. Join a network. Allow your urges to take you beyond your hopes and dreams. The sky is the limit.

Get In The Race

“The race to be a leader is crowded, but the field is wide open for those willing to be servants.” Rick Warren

Who Do You Love

Get Back To Love

Often we get so consumed in everyday life that we forget the most important task of all — to love and be loved. Love is the answer to your problems.

  • If you want a successful business — fall in love with your profession.
  • If you want a successful marriage –  fall in love with your spouse.
  • If you want more customers/friends/partners –  love your neighbor has yourself.

QUESTIONS

  • How do you treat yourself?
  • How do you treat other people?
  • What would you change about yourself?
  • How would you reach out others (co-workers, friends, family, customers, your boss, etc)?

“Love means giving up– yielding my preferences, comfort, goals, security, money, energy, or time for the benefit of someone else. ” Rick Warren The Purpose Driven Life.

Do you remember what it felt like the last time you were in love? Every single moment of the day your thoughts were consumed with that person/project/thing. Your entire being wanted to explore, nurture, protect and engage in the concept of that person/project/thing. Be that person again. Incorporate love in everything you do.

Spend today getting back to loving yourself and the people around you. Work is important, but relationship is the only thing that matters. Reach out and love today.

Get More From Your Blog (7 Tips)

People float in and out of blogs like ghosts whispering through the night . You want people to stick around and find out what you are about, comment on your page and give feedback on your content. I have some good news and bad news.

“Jakob Nielsen’s latest study finds that 90% of online community users are lurkers (read or observe without contributing) with only 9% of users contributing ‘a little’ and 1% actively contributing.

So 1% of your blog’s users are actively engaging with your blog and the rest are at best occasional contributers,”according to Pro Blogger. That means if you have 100 views, only about one or two people will actually respond to your post.

The good news is, people like you (…hint they are visiting and reading your blog) and they want a reason to keep coming back, participate and “buy-in” to the power of you. Here are seven ideas you can use to engage your blog readers.

1. Create Content Your Readers Can Connect With.

The most dis-hearting thing a writer can do is disconnect with their audience.  Many times, bloggers get the wrong idea that many people JUST want to read about “your day and the things you have experienced.” This assumption is partly true. Readers want you to be real/human. They are also looking for a RESOURCE they can use to further their own purposes. It sounds selfish, but you have to remember that you are using your knowledge to help others to achieve their dreams and/or goals — or provide answers to their questions. Find content you can relate to and write it as a resource for your readers.

2. Create “Quick Read” Content

The average American scans articles, books, blogs etc…for information they can use and discard the rest. Despite popular belief, many readers don’t have time to sit down and read a 500 word blog. We live in a fast-paced society and people want quick information. Readers want you to just K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Sam). Be brief. Use quotes, quick lists, sayings, short stories, brief motivations, etc.

3. Be Authentic

Find out what everyone else is doing and do the opposite. People are looking for you to be authentic. If you are copying after everyone else –the effort will just show you are being lazy, non-productive and unoriginal. Strive to learn more and be more personable — it will show through your writing efforts. Everyone loves a story that has never been written or written in a different viewpoint. Be that person!

4. Blog Everyday

If you have a “following”, believe that they are tunning into your blog every chance they get. If you are seen as a blog guru on a specific subject, then your traffic will increase — as will your demand for new and fresh articles. Therefore it is important for you to provide daily content.

5. Connect with Blog Guru’s (Get Advice)

There is nothing worse than swimming out in the Internet world without a safety net — you WILL drown. Search for guru’s that will educate you and inspire you to be a better writer. Also, this type of connection will help you gauge the effectiveness of your blog and what changes you should make –if any.

6. Create a FREE Course

If you want readers to connect with you– they must have something they can connect with. Create a time released course/or report and email it to your blog audience. People are looking for all forms of information, but they don’t want to waste time searching all over the universe for it. Creating a mini-course/report leads to a deeper level of commitment from your blog audience.

7. Create a Resource List

“Tell my people to connect with your people.” Social media is all about community networking. If you are connecting with outstanding bloggers and guru’s — create a resource list your readers can bookmark. There are so many great resources that you may access daily. Please share the wealth (of information.) Smile.

These ideas will jump start you on a road to becoming a better blogger. Remember, we want to read your blog. Be Motivated. Be Honest. Be Open. Be Powerful. Be Real. Give your readers information they can use. If you have other innovative ideas on ways you can get more from your blog, please feel free to add to the list.

Social Media…What’s The Big Deal?

You want to learn about social media and why it is so important to how you do business online. I was curious myself, so I searched high and low to find out the bottom line. I was amazed at my findings.

The Disconnect: Employees vs. Machines

If you work in the “brick and mortar” world you might notice that many business owners adapted and structured their business around the “Industrial Age” mentality. The mindset says:

  • Employees are paid to work hard and fast! “
  • Employees are created to produce.
  • Employees should never complain about long hard hours. The machine doesn’t complain, so why should they?

Business owners for some reason stuck it in the back of their mind that this process works. The plan backfired: turnover rates rose, sales declined, training seminars increased, etc. Upper level management was spending more to keep a staff than to serve the customer. Many people revolted against this structure, but few actually left Corporate America to find a new income stream.

What does this have to do with Social Media? Everything! Companies and individuals doing business online cultivated an unspoken “each one teach one” culture. Community is always first.

Social Media Encourages Community

If you look up any social media guru, Rohit Bhargava, Chris Brogan or Ron McDaniel for example, you will find that the cornerstone of social media is learning how to look beyond your needs by helping someone else. When was the last time you walked up to one of your co-workers, a friend or a family member and said, “You did a wonderful job on your project and I want to share this news with everyone I know.” A compliment like that makes you feel good for saying it and the other person feel even greater for being acknowledged for it. This attitude is carried throughout the social media culture, so it has no choice but to rub off on you too.

Social Media Encourages Mentorship

Having a mentor is one of the most effective ways to be successful in any business. When you have a mentor who takes time to sit down and explain how the program works, shares his/her mistakes and connects you with other gurus — the likelihood of your online business being successful is higher. If you are serious about learning — industry leaders will show up to teach you what they know. Ron McDaniel even crafted a certification and mentoring program for people who are really interested in helping business owners to adapt to Social Media. From what I here, people are lining up by the droves to be in his program.

Social Media Threads Connections

Learning creative ways to keep your name buzzing in the ears of your customers, friends and associates is always a big challenge. With the invention of Web 2.0 we are learning how to “thread our connections.” Facebook links with Linkedin –links to Myspace — links to YouTube and so on. Keywords count and Tags connect us. You can find and bookmark any blog, article, subject etc., with one click of a button by using del.icio.us . You are now working smart and not hard!

There is much more to be said about social media than what is written here. I encourage you to and reach out and learn more. Connect with the community. Get  a mentor. Thread your connections. You might be asking yourself why didn’t I start earlier.

Improve Your Process

Change in any environment is met with resistance. Organizations and individuals alike feel the pull of a desire to change, yet wrestle with the fear of the unknown (layoffs, rejection, failure, business collapse, employee backlash, family backlash, etc.) Complacency may result in slow change.  A quick change may cause a mutiny or rebel revoltSlow and steady change will help you win this race.

Improve your process with patient persistence. Try this!

  • Start with a small process that can be completed in a short period of time.
  • Set a clear time line to complete your goal.
  • Focus on a short payoff. Don’t spread your resources to thin.
  • Have a mentor, manager or accountability partner involved with you through the entire process. (If there is limited implementation — the process WILL fail.) So, don’t stray away from the process! MENTORS/MANAGERS: If you are patient enough to see someone else through the process of change, the reward of sales, feedback, customer retention, new partnerships etc …will be in short view.

How To Become An Expert

If you want to be an expert at something you can! It just takes time. Here’s the formula:

1.) Follow your passion, and do what you love.

2.) Practice your craft in a meticulous, measurable way for two hours daily (for a number of years).

3.) Learn from your (mistakes) data and adjust where you need to.

Focused

When your mind is cloudy –just focus and things will become clear.

This week has been very eye opening for me. Complacent about my direction, I laid down and thought about all of the wonderful things I wanted to do and how I would accomplish them. I came to a point where I had to focus on my central goal and understand what it is that I really wanted to accomplish. In those moments,  I  faced reality and realized that it was time to make a choice and move on it no matter what happens.

When you are not anchored — your boat will float in any direction. However, when you know what you want and you know how to get there — anything is impossible to achieve. Question. How do you eat an elephant? One piece at a time! Trying to surpass the small beginnings to achieve something bigger — will only trip you up and start you back at ground zero. Slow and steady finishes the race.

Plain

Life is not as complicated as we make it.

Most times the answers we seek are right in front of our eyes, hearts and minds. We contemplate questions we know the answers to. We hold off from doing tasks that may take our lives to the next level. Worries are void if we just take a step out and try — mess up, fail — get back up and do it all over again. Life is plain — it is just that simple.

Potluck is Unity

“If you have bread and I have fish we will eat a hearty meal. “

Potluck is unity. A collection of  individuals working as a team to share an abundance of food — for thought — mind– body and soul…

Share your wealth of mind. Share your wealth of giving. Share your wealth of spirit.

Get Out!

Time is wasted when you sit around and wonder what is going to happen next. Throw yourself into the world and allow everything you have inside of you to be manifested. Get out and explore the possibility of you.

Do It Anyway…

“People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
“Love them anyway.
“If you are successful you will win false friends and true enemies.
“Succeed anyway.
“The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
“Do good anyway.
“The biggest men with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest minds.
“Think Big anyway.
“What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
“Build anyway.
“Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
“Give the world your best anyway.”

Reach Out

Life creates meaning for you when you reach out to others. In rough times, our natural instinct advises to stay inside and mentally torture ourselves with pain, guilt and anxiety. Now more than ever people want to connect with their fellow man. We were created for unity. We were created for community. We were created to reach out and help one another.

In better times, our focus has been diverted inward and the concerns of another man’s problem has been far from our minds. As financial downturns loom, gas prices skyrocket and violence escalate — communities are starting to reunite. People are looking outward instead of inward. Help is replacing hurt. Giving is replacing greed. Promise is replacing poverty.

How are you reaching out today?

No Means Yes

No is a word on your path to Yes. Don’t give up too soon. Not even if well-meaning parents, relatives, friends, and colleagues tell you to get a real job. Your dreams are your real job”

Growth Within

Stop! Regroup & Grow

“Regroup so you can grow. Your truest treasures will never be found if you are always on the “go.”

Every so often, I take a chance to stop, look back and evaluate how my ideas are crystallizing. In those moments I have found growth, mental maturity and a more focused vision. When you are constantly on the go, your mind can only focus its attention on your “go thoughts.” Go thoughts are everyday routines (more…)

5 Years Ago …5 Years From Now

“You are today the result of your thoughts and choices 5 years ago. Five years from now, guess what–you will be a result of your current thoughts and choices.” QoutesXplained

Get Up and Fight

When you lay back and allow your fears to dictate your success you will fail. Failure is not bias to race, creed, color, religion, or sexual orientation. It only seeks to devour those who are enticed by its power. The only way you are going to defeat the feeling is by fighting back. Get on your game face, grab your boxing gloves and get ready for war. The feeling of defeat is going to beat you down until you get angry enough to fight back. You possess the power to defeat failure by getting back in the game. You may get knocked down, but get back up and keep bulldozing your way through the storm until positive results come.

When thoughts of lack, poverty, stress, defeat and worry enter your mind — shout back, “This storm will not take me under. I am going to win! I am going to make it! Failure you have NO control over my destiny.”

Your dreams, hopes and goals are to important to die. Get focused on your end result. See yourself happy. See your life fulfilled. See your family in a new home. See yourself in a new car. See yourself getting that job. See yourself getting that degree. It’s time to get up and fight!

Talk About My Love

If you want to end my life — take my computer away, burn my journals and cut off my fingers. Writing is like air to me, and everyday I search for a new way to share my love with the world. Have you ever loved someone/thing so much that when in its presence you loose all sense of time? When you do what you love or love what you do — nothing else matters. You dedicate yourself to its cause. (more…)
